Supervisor Fundamentals Series
The Supervisor Fundamentals Series is a four-part, instructor-led learning experience designed to equip supervisors with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to effectively lead others at Â鶹´«Ã½. Through interactive workshops focused on supervisory fundamentals, trust-building, difficult conversations, and performance management, participants will develop practical strategies for creating positive workplace cultures, supporting employee success, and meeting supervisory responsibilities with confidence. All employees in supervisory roles are required to complete these in-person workshops. Each workshop is offered approximately every six months and may be taken in any order.
Supervisor Fundamentals
As the first workshop in the Supervisor Fundamentals Series, this foundational session provides supervisors with a practical introduction to leading people at Â鶹´«Ã½. Participants will examine the shift from individual contributor to supervisor, learn key supervisory expectations, and explore the performance management cycle as a framework for supporting employee success. The session also highlights resources, support systems, and everyday leadership behaviors that help create a positive, accountable, and inclusive workplace.
Building a Culture of Trust
As the second workshop in the Supervisor Fundamentals Series, this session focuses on one of the most important foundations of effective leadership: trust. Participants will explore the behaviors that build and damage trust, learn how to respond constructively when problems arise, and discover how psychological safety supports open communication, accountability, and team performance. Supervisors will leave with practical tools for creating a more positive, collaborative, and trusting workplace culture.
Facilitating Difficult Conversations
As the third workshop in the Supervisor Fundamentals Series, this session equips supervisors with practical tools for addressing challenging workplace issues with clarity, confidence, and respect. Participants will learn a structured framework for preparing for and leading difficult conversations, managing emotions and reactions, delivering feedback effectively, and balancing accountability with empathy. Through realistic scenarios, guided practice, and coaching, supervisors will build the skills needed to strengthen relationships, improve performance, and address concerns before they escalate.
Basics of Performance Management
As the final workshop in the Supervisor Fundamentals Series, this session focuses on the ongoing process of managing employee performance. Participants will explore practical strategies for setting expectations, developing employees, providing feedback, recognizing achievements, documenting key conversations, and addressing performance concerns. Supervisors will leave with tools and frameworks for managing performance consistently, equitably, and proactively while supporting both employee success and organizational effectiveness.
Additional Supervisory Development Opportunities
In addition to the required Supervisor Fundamentals Series, Â鶹´«Ã½ periodically offers optional workshops and learning opportunities on supervisory and leadership topics.
Leading Through Change: Supporting People and Reimagining Operations
